Fans consider the game an ideal ending to the Kratos and Atreus storyline in Norse mythology. But the game also opens the door to new possibilities beyond the Norse universe. As the franchise has already gathered massive success and popularity, it will not make sense to end it with the Norse storyline. Well, the next God of War game will take some time before it even gets announced. However, there is some good news for the fans looking forward to Santa Monica Studio’s next project, which might or might not be a God of War project. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Cory Barlog, director of God of War 2018 and producer of God of Ragnarök, stated that Santa Monica Studio is working on multiple new projects. As mentioned in the LA times article: As stated, no other information was revealed besides hinting toward multiple new projects. So these teased projects could be anything; from previous reports, we at least know that Cory Barlog is working on one of his own games. It was revealed in 2021 when Cory announced that he would not be directing God of War Ragnarök as he is busy working on his own project. However, no details about that project were shared either. Upon asking Cory, he just said: So it is still unclear what projects Santa Monica Studio is working on, and only time can reveal those.
